Still Having Problems Blu-Ray Player And Upconvert DVD Player?
by Logic on Mar.26, 2010, under Harmony News
My Blu-Ray and Upconvert players are not broken, it will read the disc. But the problem is that it will not show the manufactures name on the HD TV screen or show saying it open, loading, play or no disc on the screen. So right now I can’t watch any Blu-Rays, DVDs and VCDs, plus on the A/V receiver, it will not show how many speakers in use at all. That part just don’t light up at all, since there no sound either, since nothing showing on the HD TV screen when anyone of the players reading a disc. Watching cable TV there are no problems at all, everything is fine, the A/V receiver will show how many speakers are in use depending the network and is it a HD channel. My little brother already try switching HDMI cables to see does that work and looked at the manual for the Blu-Ray player and A/V receiver, but nothing for now. Both players at the same time that got to be strange and something wrong. Could speaker wirings have anything to do with. The upconvert player brand new, and I wonder does it have anything to with the Harmony One remote, since my dad don’t know how to use it. Even through he knows how use a computer and go online. Could he have push some buttons that caused the problem. Any good help would nice, to me it more of what a home theater expert would know, well it looking like that. But I could be wrong about this, but any help would be great
The Blu-Ray player is a Pioneer BDP-51 FD
The A/V Receiver is a Pioneer Elite VSX-01 TXH
The Upconvert DVD player is a Harman/Kardon DVD 48
This all happen towards the end of January, before there was no problem at all with the Blu-Ray player and the A/V Receiver at all. This is the first time of this problem. When I first put in a blu-ray disc to watch, I throught there was a problem with the Blu-Ray disc, untill I had put in another one that I notice nothing with the Blu-Ray disc at all. I’m not the one that hooked up all the stuff it my little brother the one that set it all up. The A/V receiver not that old, and it is one of those good ones that has ipod, THX, DTS, upscaling, HDMI, XMHD and windows media.
As of 2/17
Still having the same problems with both the Blu-Ray and Upcontvert players. Have not tryed anything else yet, like not hooking it up to the A/V receiver and only to the HDTV like people who do not a home theater system at all, or to another TV in another room. Don’t know yet would that tell what is the problem and what to do to fix it. Would there be anything problems with the A/V receiver, or one of it feature was pushed on Harmony One remote by accident and caused the problem. The A/V receiver do have lot of features like Band, InputBd, InputDvd, MPX, Phase Control, InputHdmi1, InputHdmi2 and other features. Could the cable plug part on Blu-Ray or A/V receiver be broken, so any new cables would not work at all pluged in?
I have already posted this question here before, and here the link to it, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjLTa80l4y3uHScFoLCIqQrsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100130170156AA0TQ7m
But I only got one reply back on it. I would like a lot more help on how fix this problem and what to try and see would that fix the problem.
HDTV is a Pioner Kuro PDP-5020FD
The Cables being used for the Blu-Ray and Upconvert DVD player are HDMI cables. All the front speakers are KEF ones the two back speakers are old Pioneer ones. The new front that we got last year about this time do not clip speaker wirers it uses the same thing as one would plug in a guitar to a speaker or reciver.
The setting my little brother has set to the A/V reciever is HDMI is for Cable(as in Cable TV). HDMI 2 is for the upconvert DVD player. The Blu-Ray player is the BD button on the A/V reciever. He did not use the DVD button on the A/V reciever for the Upconvert DVD player. Also what is not working is the Blu-Ray player will not auto switch over after you have put a disc in and closed it, like 5-10 second later, if you did not push the BD button on the A/V reciever or the remote.
As say again 100% nothing is wrong with watching cable TV. The A/V reciever will show how many speakers in use depending on the network.
Forgot this the Pioner HDTV has 7 inputs and my little brother set everything to one input and not use all of the inputs. The one that is in use for everything is Input 6.
The same problem is with the audio and music CDs, the Blu-Ray player and Upconvert DVD player will read and play it. But no sound and the A/V receiver’s screen is not showing any of the speaker’s logo L, C, R, SL, and SR. And of course still the manufactor’s name or logo is still not showing up on HDTV screen. The HDTV, Blu-Ray player and A/V receiver is about a year old, and there have not been any problems since it was set up. The only new stuff is the Upconvert DVD player and the Harmony One Remote. I have no problem with the remote since I set it up.
This some thing that is out of my leauge in doing a trial and error to will it fix it. I’m going to wait till my little brother will give another, since the first try. This like those computer problems, windows explorer has stop work, because it taking too long to copy a file and you want to stop and redo that or can’t click on any desktop icon. And other computer problems like a script, internet explorer has stop working and will restart for what ever different kind of problems and rundll32. Those are out of my leauge, because it could add new problem IF you do or don’t do it right, it not small kind like just reinstall the driver, no this this how you print from their email on document you get. This for people who like to be to be their own computer fixer even when they are not in that career. Same thing with home theater level problems, that are not small TV problems like you just push the langu. button that why there no sound on this channel. But Thanks and keep them coming.
