help making a night vision webcam?

im trying to make a logitech quickcam chat web cam into a night vision camera. i have so far taken out the IR lens filter- it can now pick up the light from a remote control in the darker- however the light doesnt stretch very far, the quality is abysmal.
where can i get good cheap IR LEDS
i also need black negative card- where can i order this from
i live in the uk
